A Sweet Read opened on September 25, 2006, on the corner of South 14th Street and 11th Avenue South, next to Bluff Elementary School in Clinton Iowa. A Sweet Read was conceived from a love of food, particularly all things sweet; a lifetime of indulging in the luxury, learning and adventure of books; and a desire to return to the simple things in life. Our goal is help the consumer enjoy the everyday pleasures in life at a reasonable price, helping you use your hard earned dollars to enjoy a simple, full and relaxed lifestyle.

A Sweet Read offers something for everyone including:
- Book, DVD and VHS Trade with many titles in stock
- Bulk Candy and Snacks – try our Sweetie or Snack sized packages for a quick fix, or a larger package for sharing
- Bulk Foods including sugar-free and gluten-free products, whole grain flours, pure and unrefined as well as refined sugar, snacks, candies, spices, soup, bread, dip and dressing mixes, confections, pastas, and other dry products are available in a variety of quantities
- Food Coop Service – join with other families to order your food basics in quantity and everyone saves. Steep discounts are available for full package food purchases and these “bulk” quantities can easily be split with family and friends to help everyone save grocery dollars. The more food coop groups participating, the more everyone saves.
- Gift Baskets for all occasions and all price ranges
- Ice Cream – soft serve including cones, sundaes, shakes, boston shakes & floats – available at drive through or in the store. Check out our gourmet coffee flavored sundaes
- Beverages – including coffee, tea, soft drinks, cappuccino, milk and juice – available at drive through or in the store – See our specialty tea and coffee listings
- Popcorn & Pastries – large cinnamon rolls and muffins
- Soup and Sandwiches– your choice of two soups each day and your choice of ham, turkey, roast beef, chicken salad or tuna salad sandwiches on a whole grain or sour dough hoagie style bun.
